Our mission is simple: to support excellence in health care for the residents of Chemainus and the surrounding area.
Since its beginnings in 1988, the Chemainus Health Care Foundation has received donations and administered those funds to improve our community-based health care facilities including Urgent Care, Long Term Care, Adult Day Program, Lab, and Medical Imaging at the Chemainus Health Care Centre. Funds are also given to several non-profit health-care related organizations in the community and to support Health Care education.
100% of the funding provided by the Foundation comes from public donations.
Our Impact
The Foundation began with the major financial contributions to the construction of both the Chemainus Health Care Centre and Steeples Assisted Living. It has continued with contributions to programs, services and equipment in these facilities and in the community. Over the years the Foundation has donated over two million dollars in support of resident and patient comfort and care. The benefits range from the warmth and enjoyment of the popular music program for residents through to major investments to respond to the growing need for end of life care and expanded space for the in-demand adult day program.

Chemainus Health Care Centre
The Foundation supports all services including Urgent Care, Lab, Medical Imaging (X-ray and Bone Density), Adult Day Program and Long-Term Care Services including a Respite and Palliative rooms.
Steeples Assisted Living
The Foundation donated land and raised $250,000.00 to spearhead the construction of Steeples Assisted Living across the street from the Chemainus Health Care Centre.
Community Programs
The Foundation supports a range of activities and programs in the community including the Cowichan Caregivers Support Society, Cowichan Hospice and Clements Centre.
