The Chemainus Health Care Centre has a dedicated suite for end of life care; the design, construction and furnishing of which was funded by the Chemainus Health Care Foundation and the Chemainus Health Care Auxiliary. The suite has access to a private area out-doors and, where possible, consideration of the needs of family members have been accommodated. More recent purchases by the Foundation have been directed to up-grading the over-head lift, appropriate lighting controls and comfortable furniture for visiting family members. To meet the growing need for end-of-life care in the area, the Foundation has donated $100,000.00 to support the construction of a new 10-bed facility located near Duncan but serving the entire Cowichan region.
Those at end of life and their families need special care.
